- Strict Timed Entry and Late Arrival Policy: Entry to the Vatican Museums is strictly timed. Late arrivals may not be admitted and refunds will not be provided in such cases.
- Skip-the-Line Entry and Security Screening: You can skip the ticket line, but all visitors must pass through mandatory security checks. Please allow extra time, especially during peak hours or religious events.
- Dress Code for Vatican Entry: A strict dress code is enforced. Shoulders and knees must be covered. Sleeveless tops, shorts above the knee, miniskirts, and low-cut garments are not permitted. Entry may be denied for non-compliance.
- Prohibited Items at Entry: Weapons, glass items, sharp objects, food, and alcohol are not allowed inside any Vatican site for security reasons.
- Self-Guided Basilica Visit for Late Tours: For tours starting at 3:00 PM or later, the visit to St. Peter’s Basilica will be self-guided due to limited access hours for guided tours.
- Basilica and Sistine Chapel Closures and Access Restrictions: St. Peter’s Basilica is closed on Wednesday mornings (8 AM–12 PM), and on December 24 and 31. Access to the Basilica and the Sistine Chapel may also be restricted without notice due to religious ceremonies or events, such as Jubilee Masses or Sede Vacante (papal transition). In cases of closure, your guide will extend time inside the Vatican Museums. No refunds or partial reimbursements are issued.
